A Reason to be Thankful

Firstly, if you would like to check it out, I've updated my recipes page. Take a look if you want to see the new note on recovery nutrition and refeeding!

There's been so much bad going on over the past few weeks, I want to take the time to write about something good. On Christmas day I got a text from my boyfriend that he was going to be coming up to Kansas City on the 28th and he wanted to know if I wanted to hang out. He was coming up to see a friend who's baby was at Children's Mercy with heart valve issues. Very sad, but I was still thankful for the opportunity to see him.

It was warm out that day, so we did mini golf, frozen yogurt, and a movie (47 Ronin, which was a Samurai action flick). Then he was able to come over to my house for a bit before he had to drive back.

Now rewind to Friday the 27th. I was texting him as I drove down to Joplin for my appointment (about a 3 hour drive) so I do text and drive. Hey, it's a half ass empty highway and a long drive, don't judge. I asked him what he was doing that day, and he said they were driving up to Joplin to see a friend and then going on to Kansas City the next morning. My heart practically exploded.

"You won't believe this, but I'm headed to Joplin right now." (Me)

"DO YOU WANT TO HANG OUT!!!!!!!" (Him)

So after my appointment, we went to the park and to dinner and then walked around the mall for a bit (going to a couple of bookstores and eccentric stores that he highly reccomended. We tried on masks, played around with toy swords, tinkered with odd musical instruments, and smelled sticks of incense).

And I can't be more thankful. Seeing him was the best Christmas present I could've gotten.
