Don't Get Too Close To Me

I let someone into my heart. Someone new. I let them see the fear and the pain. And the hope. I was invited to speak freely, and so I did.

I am afraid and alone. Ashes fall from my eyes and collect at my cold feet. I am turned to stone for there is no fire within. A body of flesh hides a heart of bone that beats no more. Minutes tick by one at a time, spent in slow decaying silence, living from one to the next. And if you want to get out now, I would understand.
