Picture editing like making eyes pop, erasing wrinkles and blemishes, and making you look thinner, even to the point of where you can reshape your body and face. Teeth whitening, adding makeup, the whole shazam.
And it's easy to use. Very easy.
What?!
I mean, I know that pics in magazines have been edited and airbrushed and photo-shopped by professionals. That parts a given. But I didn't know you Average Jane could go onto some free internet software one click away and do the exact same thing to her everyday photos before she posts them on Facebook, her blog, or wherever.
And that disgusts me.
How do I know what's real and what's fake? How do I know if a picture is how the person really looks? Even with friends! All those pics of friends that I envy because they look so pretty and so skinny. How do I know they're real?
My first reaction was Hey! Now I can edit all my pictures and take off 10 pounds and make my eyes look super blue (even though they already are super blue) and make my acne go away and whiten my teeth and make myself pretty). But then I was like NOOOOOOO!!! That would be becoming what I hate.
So I'm going to keep making collages because they're fun, but all my photos will remain exactly as they are: unaltered. I now am attempting to figure out what I'm going to do about all my thinspo pics on my computer that may or may not be faked.
