I got a message from my boyfriend to be ready to go at 4:30 yesterday afternoon with a swimsuit, dry clothes, and a towel. I had no idea what he was doing, but he said it was a surprise, so I decided to go for it. He picked me up and we drove down to a creek where there was a rope swing. It was fun for a while and the creek was pretty deep and we were swimming around and having a blast.
So, it came time to leave, because he said he had more plans for us to go eat. Now, on the trail to get to the swing, I knew there were a lot of mosquitos, and we were all wet, so I wasn't too keen on walking back and getting eaten alive. But I knew that the car was parked on the creek downstream. So I suggested we float back.
Great idea me. Why is it always me who comes up with this stuff?
So he agreed. We had towels and shoes, but I said we could just hold them above the water and not get them wet. It would be nice to float back anyway. Relaxing =)
So he gets out, gets the towels and shoes, and hands them to me while he gets back in. We start down the creek and it begins to get shallower and the rocks begin to get mossy. I can tell it's kinda slick.
Well, clumsy old me decides to slip and fall on the moss. And drop everything in. All wet.
Of course.
I start to giggle. And I'm pretty sure I giggled from this point to the end of the evening.
So I'm cracking up and he's cracking up and it's getting shallower and slicker and I get to the point where I can barely walk and am scooting on my butt down the creek. He offers to hold my hand and hold me up. Well, that ended after I pulled him down half a dozen times =) All the time shrieking and giggling.
Did I mention everything was wet?
I slipped then again and floated too far downstream and had to work my way up against the current on slippery mossy rocks. (Hey, it's harder than it sounds.)
So we decide the resteraunt won't allow us in with wet shoes and shirts and underwear and everything, so we start to drive back to P-burg. A fun drive with the radio up and the windows open and his car making all kinds of scary and funny noises.
The most fun I've had in so long! Not awkward at all =) We both agreed it was more fun than if everything had gone to plan. And now we have a fun story!
So when we got back to P-burg, we took showers and then went out to an italian restaurant.
Big news here, I had alfredo. I decided to push myself. I wanted to make him proud. I used to love alfredo and eat it all the time before the Ana, but I don't know when the last time I ate any was.
He held my hand and told me how great I was doing. I'm not saying I don't regret it a little, but I know it was a big step and something I needed to tackle. Very scary, but worth it I think.
First date success? I think so =)
